Jo Barr specializes in neurosurgical nursing and the development and improvement of clinical neurosurgical programs.

Jo is a neurosurgical nurse specialist and educator. She serves on the staffs of several trauma centers, including Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and San Jose Medical Center, assisting with the development and operation of neurosciences and neuro-trauma services.

Jo has taught hands-on courses and lectured throughout the U.S. on a wide range of neurosurgical nursing topics and skills including intraoperative nursing, intensive care and medical-surgical nursing.

An assistant clinical professor at the University of California, San Francisco in the Department of Physiological Nursing, Jo is adjunct clinical faculty, lecturer and preceptor for neuroscience graduate students. She has held various clinical and managerial positions in critical care and neurosurgical nursing. Jo received her B.S. in Nursing from San Jose State University and her M.S. in Nursing from the University of California at San Francisco.
